International Women’s Day (IWD)2024: Celebrating Exceptional Leadership.

In a world where solutions can come from every and any place, every opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves is paramount to our survival as a nation. The International Women’s Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate women who are solution-makers and unique.

Creating solutions to problems can be a lonely path especially when those solutions require special and adapted methods to ensure effectiveness. It becomes even more daunting when you are working against the status quo, a high presence of men in leadership positions. The idea of men being the head of the house, home, team, etc. creates a space where opportunities for women in leadership positions become few and far between.

This bias has caused a very perceptible divide in opportunities that men and women have access to, especially in the higher echelons of organizational leadership.

Women have shown tenacity in building lucrative careers, conquering challenges, and forging a path in the “man’s world”. Their unique perspective unlocks an edge in every organization showing a side of women that the world is unfamiliar with, a woman consistently hitting all her goals and building successes and solutions.

It is worth celebrating because these opportunities do not come as often as they should and they do not get to every woman, which is why this year’s International Women’s Day celebration resonates strongly with us.

We believe every woman deserves every opportunity to climb the ladder of success and live to the fullest, the extent of her dreams.

The Guardian newspaper has taken a bold step to inspire the next generation by recognizing 50 of the brightest stars, who are blazing a path in leadership across various industries including politics, real estate, tech, banking and finance, etc. Some of our trailblazers are Sen, Dr. Akon Eyakenyi, The deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Oluwayemisi Olorunshola, Chairman, Board of Directors, Wema Bank PLC; and our very own Lotanna Uzoka, GMD, Kennedia Group.

To paraphrase, the central role played by women has ensured the stability, progress, and long-term development of nations…some women who have been entrusted with leading roles to manage human and material resources have more often than not, proven that given adequate backing, they can perform creditably.
